For many decades, East Orange General Hospital's trademark was its behavioral health center. Not long ago, they decided it needed some improvement. Finally with the hard work of Trina Parker, Suzette Robinson and their team, along with the support of EOGH President Kevin Slavin, members of the Board of Trustees, Assemblyman Thomas Giblin, East Orange Mayor Robert L. Bowser, Assemblywoman Sheila Oliver, the State of New Jersey and many other partners, it was possible to raise $3.5 million to renovate the much-needed state of the art Behavioral Health Unit at East Orange General Hospital.
On October 16, 2013 in the presence of many guests and staffers of the behavioral health center, a ribbon cutting ceremony took place on the 4th Floor of the hospital. It was a difficult task, as they had a continuous patient inflow while building the new facility. They shifted the center from the 2nd to the 4th floor without interruption of the work, and have done a tremendous job.
