Habitat for Humanity Newark Completes its First Home Outside of the City of Newark

On Tuesday, May 22nd Habitat for Humanity Newark celebrated the completion of its first home outside of the City of Newark with a dedication ceremony on Tuesday. The house, located in Irvington, became the home of a hard-working nurse and her four children as the keys were handed to her during the memorable ceremony.Habitat-Irvington

Habitat Newark supporters and members of the Irvington Township Council and local business community joined representatives of house co-sponsors TD Ameritrade and LeClairRyan for the ceremony.

Completion of the home, known as Abraham House II, sponsored by TD Ameritrade and LeClairRyan, proves that the descendents of Abraham can work together for the common good. The house was built with donations and labor from Christians, Jews, Muslims and members of other faiths. Major contributions have been made by the house co-sponsors, TD Ameritrade and LeClairRyan.

Joyce Misiani, a native of Kenya who works as a nurse, put in more than 400 hours of ‘sweat equity’ so she can purchase the home by making low, income-based, monthly payments on a zero-interest mortgage.

TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation, LeClairRyan, and Habitat for Humanity Newark are separate and unaffiliated entities and are not responsible for each other’s services or policies.
