Have a happy holiday and prosperous new year to all the readers. It is a great event when families unite together and celebrate one last time before the winter settles in.
The government records state that the economy is slightly better than the last year. Sales are higher than the last year. However, I don’t see in our community the same effect on businesses as well as people. Maybe the economy is better for the rich community and buying is higher than last year. Maybe the high end products are selling more. However, the local economy has not been better. This is what I am hearing around the neighborhood. Statistics are very deceptive, as per one of the business owners in the neighborhood.
Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich attacked each other on Dec. 12. Mitt Romney aggressively told rival Newt Gingrich to return the estimated $1.6 million he received for providing strategic advice to Freddie Mac. Per the Associated Press, "If Gov. Romney would give back all the money he's earned from bankrupting companies and laying off employees over the years at Bain, then I would be glad to listen to him," Gingrich told reporters in Londonderry. "But I bet you $10, not $10,000, that he won't take the offer." This argument is good for the Obama campaign. This will come up in the presidential debate for whoever is the nominee of the Republican Party.
President has subpoenaed Democratic Senators to the White House on Dec. 14. It is a serious business. The Democrats and the Republicans should not go home for the holidays without settling the budget issue. They must act upon the Republican proposal. The Democrats have a right to accept, reject or bring an amendment, but the Democrats are not budging without taxing the rich to offset the tax deductions to be extended for the middle class, as heard that the White House is trying to force Democrats to accept the Republican proposal without negotiating on rich people’s taxes. However, they might bring some amendments to their ideas. They will have to deal with the President and make a real decision. Let’s hope for the best. I don’t think that the Republicans have left any room for negotiations, as they are steadfast in their decisions and they have acted to bring the proposal of the budget, but the Democrats failed to act upon it. Now the Republicans have the upper hand, and it will look bad upon the Democrats.
The U.S. Attorney has arrested 15 persons, mostly local doctors and the vice president of a local MRI facility on Henry Street in Orange. Executive Director Chirag Patel has been arrested and was released after posting $750,000 bail. They have been accused of giving kickbacks to doctors for referrals to this MRI facility. It is a criminal offense to bribe and to accept any money. However, all suspects are accused and are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
