Editor's Note 12/9/11

DHIRENHello Readers,

Newt Gingrich is getting momentum for his presidential Republican Party nomination in Iowa. Last week after numerous accusations, Herman Cain suspended his campaign. He is likely to back Gingrich, who is known to the public and the world, but has baggage on his resume. Gingrich has admitted to an affair and has two divorces under his bio. Mitt Romney has a clean slate, but he is a conservative and has to face his own republican tea party. Tea Party activists blame both parties for working for influential and well-connected people. Gingrich worked in congress for 20 years. After leaving Congress, Gingrich has made millions working for Freddie Mac and other companies as a consultant or advisor.

The Federal Aviation Administration’s administrator Randy Babbitt has resigned following his arrest over the weekend on charges of drunken driving. Who to believe and who to trust is a big question nowadays. Morality is going down. When an aviation administrator does not control his/her basic routine, how can they expect the aviation pilots and staff to follow the policies? The White House may avoid the nomination of a possible replacement due to a political fight for the post of acting Chief Michael Huerta who was promoted from the Deputy Chief position.

Anger can do anything. On November 30, 2011, in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India, an angry snake charmer Mr. Hukkul had received clearance of land to conserve his snakes. However, corruption at the lower level prevented him from getting the land. He got frustrated for not getting the land for the snakes’ home. In his anger, he left about 50 snakes - including Cobras - in the land revenue office of the UP government. Luckily, no one was bitten by the snakes, but there is a suspicion that snakes are still around in the building. Injustice can bring anger in the crowd, and that was what the Occupy Wall Street protest was all about.

Orange Mayor Eldridge Hawkins, Jr., with a host of politicians, will kick off his re-election campaign on Friday December 8th, 2011. Dwayne Warren is also campaigning with the help of local politicians, including former Mayor Mims Hackett. Councilman Edward Marable, Jr. has already announced his name for the candidacy. There will be two or three candidates possibly joining the quest to be a mayoral hopeful, including Janice Morell. The mayor will announce his slate on Friday. Dwayne Warren already has his full slate, including Councilman Elroy Corbitt, April Gaunt-Butler and Dwight Holmes. Hawkins has money and political power behind his candidacy. It will be very interesting to see the political change in the coming months for the May 2012 Election.

Have a wonderful week. I’ll talk to you next week.
