DHIRENThe Boston Marathon Bombings have taught us one thing. We should not let anything pass by as far as terrorist suspects are concerned. We as citizens should be a watchdog for our police and security agencies. I commend the speedy work performed by the FBI and other investigative officers to arrest two men from Kazakhstan, Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev, both 19 of New Bedford, and a man from Cambridge, Robel Phillipos 19, for disposing of the evidence from the Boston bombings. They have been arrested for plotting to dispose of a backpack and a laptop computer containing fireworks belonging to bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

DHIRENHello Readers,

Unusual, but true. There has been an attack on innocent people at the Boston Marathon is a horrific act by some crazy people. This must be stopped. Innocent people should live their lives without fear. Three people died and over 170 were injured. Besides spending millions of dollars, we are not safe in our own land. The politics should be put to the side for the unity of our country and future of our children. Gun control has been lagging, and watered down resolutionshave passed due to some objections by gun lobbyists. The President is standing on the side of righteousness as far as the violence is concerned. The police department politics should be stopped. If you lift the confidence of the people, they will be ready to help.

Hello Readers,

I received a letter from the Jersey City Caribbean Carnival Committee almost two months ago and was surprised. They thought that I was Guyanese, but I am an Indian residing and believing in America. I always say to many that my first country is America and second country is India, as I will live, retire, enjoy my family members and die in America, so I must protect and work for America first.

Jersey City Carnival Committee wants to honor me as Grand Marshal of the Parade representing the Garden State of New Jersey. The Jersey City Caribbean Parade will be on July 27, 2013 and last year over 30,000 people enjoyed the parade. This year, they are expecting more participants, as they have added the festival after the parade right by the water. Also, they are honoring all of the Grand Marshals on April 27th 2013 at Michael Anthony's Waterfront Restaurant at the Newport Marina Pier in Jersey City. I am really appreciative for being selectedas a Grand Marshal to the selection committee headed by Cheryl DB Murphy, Founder and President of the West Indian Caribbean American Carnival Association, Inc.

Hello Readers,

East Orange has become a hot spot for politics lately. We all started hearing about the negative campaigning and the quiet city became a gossip city within a couple of weeks. Mayor Robert L. Bowser is running again, even though some of the opponents say that his age and health are an issue. At the age of 89, Frank Lautenberg has successfully run several times and has made his constituents happy for years. So age should not be a factor. However, the basic thing is the issues and how the administration and council are handling the job. The job must be done well and the taxpayers' money should be spent conservatively and they should benefit.

East Orange has raised the salaries, which has created more interest for the better qualified candidates as well as hopeful candidates. Each council seat will be contested by a few candidates. This time it does not seem like it will be a clear majority for one line. The incumbents have been divided into different groups. Some good friends are inopposing groups, as I've heard. It will be a negative campaign, and it might turn out to be the ugliest campaign we have seen so far.Time will tell.

The mayor has been accused by the police officers who say they have been forced to issue tickets due to a quota system. Quota systemsare illegal. Many police departments, as I've heard, have directly or indirectly instituted quotas for tickets. The tickets should be issued after the fact that someone has broken the law, not before and trying to trap people's ignorance of the law. There are many roads where we can see the speed limit. All of a sudden it changes on the local roads, and some innocent person who has not seen the sign will become a victim. Once the ticket has been issued, the court of law favors the police department the majority of the time. However, the law says that the police are issuing summons, and the person is not guilty until proven so.But due to the weirdness of the laws, the police do not have to appear in the court and are excused two times. So, the innocent law abiding citizens will pay the fine in the mail or on the web and sometimes, go to court and settle with the prosecutor without defense, whether he/she is guilty or not.

How can the voters change the future forthemselves?Sometimes, voters choose the right candidate and elect him/her. But when it comes to power and playing politics with other elected officials, they change and become another regular politician, and that circle continues. In my opinion, voters should elect the right candidate, not the party or their purpose.

On March 27, 2013,the Supreme Court still is undecided on gay rights. They have argued back and forth for over 2 days, but still the demand from gay rights activists remains on paper only. The Supreme Court justices might decide soon and rule in partial favor of gay persons. It will not be a huge victory as the gay right support groups have expected.

James Holmes, the Colorado Movie Theater shooter who killed 12 people and injured 7, has asked for a plea deal for life imprisonment, saving him from the death penalty. The judge has not accepted it yet. However, in the name of justice, our justice system lets many bad elements and killers go free easily, and many first time offenders can go to jail for a long time due to lack of good defense and are unable to afford a good lawyer.

Colorado became the first western state to sign for gun control. Some hunters are boycotting the state for affecting tourism dollars. With the gun control law, there will be very strict background checks of prospective buyers. Lately, there were many incidents of deadly shootings by a lone gunman. This gun control measure will stop out of the state buyers from buying a gun in an open market. It's a really good measure to start with.

Have a wonderful week. I'll talk to you next week.

Hello Readers,

President Barack Obama is on a three day trip to Israel, Palestine and Jordan. Obama affirmed his commitment to supporting the security of Israel. He went to the West Bank by helicopter, without crossing the billion dollar security walls dividing Israel and Palestine. Palestinians want the U.S. and Obama to pressure the Jewish State of Israel to give the open land at the West Bank to Palestine so that they can have their own state. The fight at the holy place of Jerusalem is over a thousand years old. I visited there as an Ambassador for Peace to find out the facts about the situation between both states. It is very difficult, when both parties are reluctant to settle or give up anything. Israel is the capital of the economy in the region, and with the support of the U.S., they are receiving 3 billion dollars in military aid every year over for forty five years, which is 135 billion dollars. This is taxpayer money the U.S. is giving away, whether it is the Democratic ruled congress or the Republican ruled congress. So on the surface they are different, and Obama started to stand up against Israel, but at the end Obama visited Israel for the first time and changed his tune. We do need Israel for geographic strategy, but we should be at the upper hand not Israel.
